Christina Obergföll (GER
) , the German javelin record holder won at the European Team Championships SPAR super league. Her winning throw recorded at 66.22m is also a new world leading result. She is the Thrower Of The Week (period 13-19 Jun).
Obergföll, now 29, has been among the world top throwers since 2005 when she improved her lifetime best by 6 meters, to 70.03m, which was enough only for a Silver at the World Championships in Helsinki.
In 2007 she improved her best to 70.20m and grabbed Silver, again, at the World Championships in Osaka. A year later at the Beijing Olympics she finished on a Bronze position 66.13m, however, her expectations were higher as she threw 67.52m in the qualification round.
In 2010 she got Silver at the European Championships in Barcelona, with a throw of 65.58m.
