12 easy points for Schwanitz (19,43m)

The women's shot put event was not a surprise at the European Athletics Team Championships. The German star Christina Schwanitz, who is currently the only one able to beat the New Zealander Valerie Adams won the competition with ease. She tossed the 4kg implement to 19,43m and created a gab of over a meter between her and the second place. The Russian Irina Tarasova took 11 points with her 18,36m toss. Chiara Rosa from Italy placed second with a new season best of only  few cm short of the 18m mark. Her throw was measured 17,92m.

I like it here a lot, the audience motivated me a lot. It is a great pleasure to make 12 points for our German team. I wanted to have a good first attempt but competing in front of my home crowd is sometimes not too easy, so it was a false attempt. In Zurich I hope to achieve the same position as today. I hope it will run as well as today. I am working on that. Last week in training a got a little injury on my back and I still feel it, I also felt it during the competition. I hope to get rid of that soon. We will have a training camp in Kienbaum. Zurich is going to be very interesting. Yesterday I was also in the stadium and met a lot of fans.
