Nesterenko tries to get back on his level

Mykyta Nesterenko (UKR) who is the holder of several discus youth and junior world records threw his season´s best in Yalta, at the Ukrainian Cup. He threw 60.83m and finished on 3rd place behind Oleksiy Semenov (62.00m) and Pavlo Karsak (61.03m).

Born on 15 April 1991, Nesterenko owns the world youth record with 81.22m (1.0kg), 77.50m (1.5kg) and 65.31m (2.0kg), as well as the world junior record with 70.13m (1.75kg). His lifetime best stands on 65.31m since 2008 when he competed in Tallinn.

He´s been struggling with injuries and been unlucky since 2009. Last year he managed to throw 58.29m, in 2009 61.90m. Nesterenko is considered to be the most talented discus thrower all-time.   Being 208cm tall he won the World Youth Championships in 2007, repeated his success at the European Junior Championships in 2009. In 2008 he competed at the World Junior Championships but was beated by Germany´s talent Gordon Wolf.

Competition was held on 30 May-1 June.
