ISTAF 2013, Berlin, 1. Seotember

Germany star Robert Harting won the men's discus with 69.02m (226' 5"), close to his 2013 best of 69.91m (229' 4").  Compatriot Martin Wierig completed a German 1-2 with his 66.73m.  His best this year stands on 67.46m.

Robert Urbanek (POL) was third with 64.97m. The most satisfying fact for him is probably a victory over Piotr Malachowski (also Polish), current world leader with 71.84m (235' 8"). Malachowski was  4th with 64.89m.

Sebastian Dietz in the men´s discus F36 class showed a great will. 39.77m gave him a victory.

In the men´s shot put field, German David Storl won with 20.91m. He is the reigning world champion.

There was an interesting competition happening in the women´s hammer throw from which Anita Wlodarczyk (POL) touchdowned with 77.15m getting a revenge from Tatyana Lysenko (RUS) who was battling with the world record holder Betty Heidler (GER) for 2-3 place. Lysenko finally got second with 74.89m, Heidler was third with 74.62m.

There was almost no competition for Mariya Abakumova (RUS) in the women´s javelin throw. She threw 70.53m to take the world lead and also set the new meeting record. Linda Stahl (GER) was second with 65.35m and Christina Obergföll (GER) landed on third with 63.30m. Abakumova points to the future saying, “I have to admit that I am thinking about the world record now. My family and my whole team help me believe I can make this dream come true.”

In the women´s shot put no surprises were executed. Valerie Adams will be heading back to home to New Zealand after winning her last meet (and 42nd straight) of 2013 with a 20.58m. Her closest rival was Germany´s Christina Schwanitz with 19.43m.
