Valerie Adams Takes Historical (4th) Gold in Moscow

Valerie Adams (formerly known as Valerie Vili), one of the greatest throwers of all-time, became the first female to win 4 WC Golds in same event.

It was Christina Schwanitz (GER) who got closest with 20.41m. Still it was not enough to win over 2-Time Olympic Champion, now 4-Time World Champion, 2-Time World Indoor Champion and 2-Time Commonwealth Champion. Adams also has WC Silver from Helsinki 2005 which means she has 5 consecutive WC medals with 4-Golden ones.

Bronze was taken by Lijiao Gong (CHN) with 19.95m. It was a tight competition for bronze. Michelle Carter (USA) won bronze with 19.94m. She had quite dissappointing day which left her on 4th by just 1 cm.

In front of her homecrowd Jevgenia Kolodenko (RUS) put 19.81m. She was also the last who threw over 19.00m. 6th was Ling Li (CHN) with 18.39m.

Congratulations Valerie Adams!
