Su Xinyue hits new PB in Asian Grand Prix

Su Xinyue was on fire on Wednesday, as she hurled the discus to a new PB of 61.67m(202'3"), thereby, winning the second leg of the Asian Grand Prix Series.

Su Xinyue of China, who finished second in the first leg at Bangkok, was at her best in Chonburi. She also achieved the World Championships 'B' qualifying standard(59.50m). Jian Fengjing, the winner at Bangkok, was third here, with an improved performance of 59.41m(194'10").

Krishna Poonia, who finished a disappointing fourth at Bangkok, came up with a season best performance of 59.43m(194'11"), to take the second spot. She barely missed out on the World Championships 'B' standard by just 7cm.

Bobur Shokurjonov (77.50m/254'3") of Uzbekistan won the men's javelin throw by upsetting Huang Shih Feng (76.45m/250'9") of Chinese Taipei.

In the men's shot put, the top three positions remained unchanged from the first leg in Bangkok. Wang Li (China) won the gold with a throw of 18.86m(61'10"), followed by Guo Yan Xiang (China)f and Grigoriy Kamulya (Uzbekistan).

Nadeeka Lakmali from Srilanka won her second consecutive gold in the series with a throw of 55.99m(183'8"), but she is well behind the World Ch'ships qualifying mark.

The third and final leg is scheduled to take place at Colombo on 12th May.
