Strong field in Halle

Halle Werfertage ( "Halle´s Throwing Day") is known for its strong competitors and good facilities for throwing events.  Best results are often set in Halle and that´s the reason why athletes love this meet so much. Competition will be held on 21-22 May in Halle, Germany.

Startlist includes several world class throwers. In the men´s shot put World leader Dylan Armstrong (21.72) tries to continue his wonderful season, Germany´s Ralf Bartels (21.37), former European shot put champion will do his best to ruin his plans. There will be interesting competition between Hungary´s Lajos Kurthy and Germany´s young shot put star David Storl. Difference between their lifetime bests are only 1 cm, Kurthy has tossed 20.78 and Storl 20.77.

In the men´ s discus the most famous names are 2-time Olympic champion Virgilijus Alekna from Lithuania (73.38), the reigning World champion Robert Harting in front of his homecrowd (69.69),  Beijing Olympics 6th Bogdan Pishchalnikov from Russia (67.23), Commonwealth champion Benn Harradine (66.45) and this seasons comet Martin Wierig (65.79).  Brittain´s Brett Morse (64.49) tries to throw his lifetime best into a next level. Robert Harting´s younger brother Christoph Harting who is only 20 years old but one of the most gifted throwers around is also competing. His lifetime best stands on 62.12 since May 14.

Men´s hammer throw includes the reigning European Champion Libor  Charfreitag (80.59). Markus Esser (79.43) and World Championships silver medallist Szymon  Zió ‚kowski from Poland (79.30) are also competing.

In the men´s javelin, Germany´s European silver medallist Mathias de Zordo (87.81)  has Mark Frank (83.86),  Till Wöschler (83.65) and Tino Häber (83.46) as his strongest rivals.  Wöschler is only 19 years old and won the World Junior Championships last year.
