Road to Rio: David Storl

He is one of the most successful German athletes in recent years. David Storl has collected in the junior and senior classes an international title after the next. Twice he was already world champion, this summer the 25-year-old wants to land the big coup also at the Olympic Games. With his best performance of the previous year (22.20 m), the current vice-world champion pushed to the third place of overall German top list and one of the top favorites for Olympic gold.

David Storl skipped the indoor season this year to protect his body. The Olympic standard he could check off in the second competition. As he prepared himself with intensive strength training to the summer season and what is his big dream for the final in Rio, he shows in a video clip and a questionnaire. Since coming anticipation - and even a bit of "Rio-Feeling"!

My Olympic motto:
Losing is not an option

This must necessarily after Rio:
My shot put shoes and my ball

In training, I love ...
... To strive for perfection.

In training I hate ...
... To be hampered by injuries.

The favorite phrase my coach:
"Your upper body need to relax."

So, I relax best:
With my girlfriend

That's why I love my discipline:
Because one can not rest on excuses by external conditions.

My Olympic Hero:
Ulf Timmermann and no other

My biggest fan:
My girlfriend

My previously finest sporting moment:
World Championship gold in 2013

My dream for the Olympic Games in Rio:
Gold with 22 meters
