Abdelrahman throwing 87.37m (WL) for the victory at the DL meeting in Eugene

The Egyptian javelin thrower Ihab Abdelrahman took all points at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene throwing a new world lead of 87.37m. Ihab opened the competition with only 76.42m and the current world champion Julius Yego from Kenia opened big with a new season best of 84.68m. But Ihab was able to improve on his first round effort already in he 2nd round throwing 84.06m which was already enough for the 2nd place on the podium. The German Thomas Röhler did not seem to be in the position to attack Yego or Abdelrahman today but during the next competitions he should be able to. Röhler ended up with the 3rd place and 82.53m.
