Women's Shot Put Qualifying 15th IAAF World Championships

Finally, the World Championships in Beijing have started. In absence of the shot put queen Valerie Adams a new world champion will be crowned. There are probably three strong women who all are able to grab the gold medal. Christina Schwanitz who is leading the world with 20.77m, Lijiao Gong (20.34m) and Michelle Carter (20.02m).

Without surprise all three of them went through the qualification with ease. Christina Schwanitz opened with 19.39m, MIchelle Carter 19.22m and Lijia Gong 19.11m. All three needed only their first attempt for the automatic qualification of 18.30m.

Behind the strong trio four throwers were also able to toss beyond the qualification standard. Anita Marton (18.85m), Natallia Mikhnevich (18.57m), Cleopatra Borel (18.55m) and Aliona Dubitskaya (18.51m). In order to qualify for the final 17.73m was enough so that Paulina Guba made the final as the 12th best shot putter.

The final will begin in 2 hours from now and it is going to be a fight for the gold medal between the mentioned trio of Schwanitz, Carter and Gong.
