How has your training been going recently?

Training has been pretty good, I’m in good shape physically and I’ve been healthy and enjoyed training a lot this summer. Though I haven’t been able to throw the results I’m after in competitions so staying focused in training is absolutely important in order to improve my results.

Is there anything new you are implementing into your training?

Not at the moment, but during winter I threw different overweight implements a lot, that really helped me making good results early in the season.

What technical issues are you working on?

I throw technically well in training with less speed and power but lately I’ve been struggling in competitions to keep my technique together and especially with timing when throwing hard. So the timing in the end of the throw and the usage of block (can u say that??:)) are the most important things to concentrate on.

Where are you currently training?

In Tampere, Finland where I live. We have actually great training facilities in Tampere because we have two indoor halls where we can throw long throws during the winter.

Will you be attending any training camps at another site? If so, where and when?

Team Finland will leave for Hong Kong for preparation camp next week and then I’m off to Beijing few days before WC-qualification.

Who is your current coach?

Anssi Mäkinen, who is also the head coach of discus throw in Finland.

Are you training with your coach on site or long distance?

My coach also lives in Tampere and as he is one of the few professional coaches, we see in trainings almost every day.

Are you currently working a job? If so, what and how many hours a week?

I just graduated from university so at the moment I’m a full time athlete.

What competitions do you have planned?

Before Beijing I’ll compete in Leiria Portugal. After Beijing there is at least the very traditional match between Finland and Sweden.

Will any friends or family be travelling to Beijing?

Not this time.
