How has your training been going recently?

It's going quite well, for the first time in a long time I'm feeling a bit of connection with the disc in most of my training sessions. I'm not far off the shape I'm aiming for.

What is the focus of your training schedule?

Leading up to the world champs the main focus of my training has been to maximize my throwing frequency. I'm trying to ingrain some recent technical changes that I've made, and I think that an increase in throwing frequency is the way to do that.

Is there anything new you are implementing into your training?

Not really, right now I think I just need to focus on one or two simple technical cues and make them feel as natural and effortless as possible.

What technical issues are you working on?

For quite a while now, I've been generating lots of angular momentum, but not effectively transferring this energy into the discus. My main technical focus right now is on tension in my right arm (both centripetal force and muscular tension). I need to maintain this tension throughout the entire finish of the throw, because it is necessary to effectively transfer energy from my body into the discus.

Where are you currently training?

I'm currently training at home in Brisbane, Australia. I throw at a local university and I lift at home.

Will you be attending any training camps at another site? If so, where and when?

Yes there is a mandatory Australian training camp in Japan, I'll be there for two weeks before heading to China.

Who is your current coach?

I am self coached.

Are you training with your coach on site or long distance?

I train by myself, or with whoever happens to be throwing out at the local university while I'm out there.

Are you currently working a job? If so, what and how many hours a week?

I do a little bit of personal training, and a little bit of coaching, but only a few hours a week, nothing serious. I'm currently living with mum, so there is no need for a full time job right at the moment haha.

What competitions do you have planned?

I have no more competitions planned prior to world champs.

When will you travel to Asia?

I arrive in Japan on the 8th of August for the Australian camp.

When will you travel to Beijing?

I arrive in Beijing on the 23rd I think.

Will any friends or family be travelling to Beijing?

Yes my dad will be travelling to Beijing.
