Is Kovacs throwing there? I see Whiting and Roberts are tweeting over there but haven't seen if Kovacs is...that world indoor breakdown is awesome for the US with very valid points.
Also, Mozia is in the NCAA system as well and is competing for Nigeria. He'll be in a tough spot because he threw at conference, now heading to Sopot, then heading to NCAA indoor in Albuquerque. Should be an intense three weeks for him.
Mini comps are great, especially for younger kids.
Never understood why some coaches don't measure. Measuring your throws is as important as tracking your weights in the weight room. It's a scientific result of your body and the impact training has on your body. If you track it regularly you really can understand how yourself or your athletes react to different stimuli.

I think it's beneficial for discus throwers to do full range and half range. The biggest focus still has to be on throwing and technical improvement.
There is ample evidence that full range of motion squats increases power development, as much or more so than short range squats. We train ass to grass for numerous reasons, the main one being it has minimal negative impact on technical training of the throws. We use light quarter squats to peak certain types of throwers. I like box squats for strength but not for throwing.
