can you really tell how well you have thrown? how many throws would you do into the net versus outside. Think I better build one in the winter!
-
hi @PaddyHammer we have the opposite problem in Australia at Melbourne. Meets are being cancelled because it is constantly over 100˚. I bet you would prefer that than your conditions any day! Throwers need things like covered golf driving ranges so we can continue to throw through the wet, cold and heat!
-
sorry @PaddyHammer you should have read the post. The internet!
-
go rotational!
-
is it on youtube yet?
-
think @Justin RODHE has a solution for you. Check out his site http://rodhethrows.com/. It makes sense too me looking after your hand during training

@Norm Zylstra 200kg bench press 20 meters discussion. It is my suggestion is that it is the meters per second, height plus angle that determines the length of the shot put. However but others may disagree

Also this:
found this calculator brianmac.co.uk/shot/.
There is one for hammer and discus as well. Feed in height of release, angle and speed of release in m/s. Think this answers your question. Just have to find a way of calculating the speed of release. Interesting to see the formula -

thanks @Matt Marcoccia I noticed Ryan has 10 great shotput drills in there. I would definitely recommend them
-
no I knew you were talking about shot as it was in your question! Really interested in the
answer. Wonder if physics is your answer? I was sort of asking the question in the Majeski standing throw question on how high the throw was. -
@James Joycey are you really going to hit 20 m this year? At an event in March perhaps?
-
well done. Kids are forced into glide because coaches do not know rotation. I cannot understand why someone would rotate to do discus yet do a completely different style for shotput

what I would like is to see a timer feature in the video down to the hundredth of a second to be shown in the video. See video below of Jacko done by DP. How can I do this? I tried to time Ryan Whiting and it is under.8 of second. How can this stopwatch be displayed on the video? Can it be done in Microsoft live?

I thought I heard Dane Miller say on throws unlimited that they have a mini comp after each practice as well. Think this is good. You would need handicaps for the different standards of throwers.

If you do not want to pay for it I think the new version of windows live movie maker is good. I basically add each video twice then have one of them at normal speed and set the other one to 0.125 speed. Easy to add music as well to make it interesting

my son who is about 135 cm tried doing a South African shotput and got up near his pb for the first time in months. As he is small he can stay in the ring in both shot and discus (which he throws further with a South African). I think he is having a problem getting enough drive into full rotational which South African resolves. Question if you disregard starting out of the back of the ring can shotputters/discus throwers throw further with South African than full rotational.
