I find it interesting when a read internet posts that read, "I spoke with 'so-and-so' at the IAAF and they said this is not true so it must not be true."
Why do you think they would tell you the truth now?

I really hope this will stay a rumour only... That's crazy to eliminate such a fantastic event...
A rumor is a rumor, not the truth. If this is true-but stopped-we will never know. If it is false we will never know. If it is true-and the IAAF does drop walks and hammer-so sad for our sport.

Why would the administration tell anyone their agenda?
Sadly, I think there are some athletes out their that think their 'friends' at the IAAF will tell them what is happening. Were the athletes told anything before the hammer was dropped from the Diamond League?

What does the IAAF have to do with the Diamond League?

If any atheltes were told ahead of time it does not seem as though they did anything about it.
Display MoreI trust nobody serious would even consider this idea. Hopefully it is just a bad rumour.
Hammer Throw is an international event.
In the current All-Athletics.com World Rankings 35 countries are
represented in the Top-100 of the Men’s Hammer Throw while 32 countries
are represented in the Women’s HT.
As for comparison: Men’s 100m 35 countries, Men’s 5000m 30 countries. Women’s 100m 38 countries, Women’s 5000m 28 countries.
Tell that to the Diamond League.
Trivia: Do you know which country has the most Athletes in the Top-100 of the All-Athletics.com World Rankings in the Men’s HT?
@Attila Spiriev If you still count the Soviet Union as one country it think it would have to be the Soviets. If you split them up all time I would guess Ukraine?
We are are being naive to think we know what is going on in our sport. Even the star throwers, in track & field the athletes have no real power. Why would anyone tell them anything? Some of them are hurt that they do not know. But the reality is that the international sport is big business, and the people at the top are making millions while the product (athletes) make little to nothing.

Even Bolt has little control over the sport.
Some people think they are a big deal in the world of sports, they do not understand they are very little fish in a big ocean of international sport. In the US someone who sits on the bench in the NBA makes millions, does any thrower make that? Those running the IOC and IAAF see international sport as a business to fund their salary 1st, not a way to promote a sport. That is obvious. They do not care what ANY athlete thinks if it gets in the way of their wages.
Why would anyone who knows the real plan tell the truth? Why do athletes think the IAAF committee members know what is the plan? We did not know hammer was to be eliminated from the Diamond competitions until it was a decided plan. Where were all IAAF people telling their contacts about this plan? Did the hammer throwers know the lan and do nothing?
From reading Facebook and Twitter it looks like people are hurt that they do not know and their friends will not tell them it is true. The reality is that the international sport is big business, and the people at the top are making millions while the workers make little to nothing.
This is wrong way to do things, but it is how today's world works.
Even Bolt has little control over the sport..
In general, athletes and coach don't have contacts that feel they need to tell them the truth. Some may think they does, but throwers cannot fire anyone at the IAAF and throwers do not sign their paycheck. throwers do not even make them much money. If he did they would have hammer in the Diamond series.
In general, athletes and coach don't have contacts...
@Tabór Abarca who does? Who can expect these questions to be answered truthfully?

Do they think their IAAF contact is thinking,
"There was this secret agenda, but now [superstar thrower or coach] called me so I must tell him the truth, reveal the plan to drop hammer, and lose my job."
If the rumor is false, GREAT.

Who else is making money? Who is able to stay involved in the track & field but does not have to have deep knowledge of the sport and may not care about what events are contested?
Agents. Find me a top-end agent. They know what's what in the upper echelon of sport. The IAAF needs agents to fill their fields and keep the money flowing. Just like elite football, follow the money, the agents know everything.

Who is the top track & field agent?
Don't believe it. What would be the reason for the IAAF to do so???
Yeah throwholics provide more info please. .
Have Hammer throwers known about that rumour?
@kathrinklaas @'Kibwe Johnson '
After what has happened to the hammer in the DL why won't they?
If hammer throwers knew I would hope the rest of us would as well.

@Bill Dekkinga , So you think agents knew ahead of time that hammer was getting dropped and did nothing?
Why would the IAAF want to eliminate any events?
Would like to know a little more than this simply being "a rumour." Until then, I will at least throw my hat in the ring of this would be ridiculous. No reason to eliminate hammer and walk events.
After seeing the bullshit events they just had in the Winter Olympics, they should not even consider dropping walks and hammer.
