Joe Kovacs is fouling the same type of throws that Randy was fouling at the time that he broke the world record. I know fouls doesn't count for much if you can't get close to it with legal throws . In my opinion Kovacs is in world record shape and there is a lot to come from him this year . what do you guys think?

It's alway so hard the Americans, having to peak twice. Because they are so deep in the shot put (men and women) and their selection process is strict it is difficult for them to be at peak condition at the major championships.

Maybe if the the US had a strong national system but it looks to me as though the shit-storm they call USATF is about funneling money to the executives. New throwers cannot depend on the experience of the veteran coaches, there is no system for that.

I agree to a certain point.
Kovacs is coached by Art Vanagas, as is Ashley Whitney. Vanagas has had many throwers in the WC and Games so he can help them.
