It comes down to Dani Samuels (AUS) and Seema Punia (IND) for gold.
I think Seema is ready, she had to return to India a little sooner than we had wanted but her training went well over the last few weeks and she has been having some good practices in Glasgow. We will see!
@Tony Ciarelli I'd like to see Seema bring home gold.
If we can find more athletics fans in India it would be great for all of us; go Seema!
I think it will be tough to beat Dani, she's been pretty consistent this season, but that's why they have the competition! Seema had a good camp here in California, her strength and fitness levels are way up and if she elevates the discus she is very capable of a big throw.
. . . but that's why they have the competition!
Amen @Tony Ciarelli
Well, Seema did it the hard way but made it on her last throw, and like I said Dani is going to hard the beat!
"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!"
"All things are ready, if our minds be so!"
I like Henry V

So glad Seema got through to the final. Samuels looks on her game and will be tough to beat. She would have to meltdown to not take gold. Or a bomb from Seema or Tayrn.
@Tony Ciarelli are you in Glasgow?
I think Seema is ready, she had to return to India a little sooner than we had wanted...
@Tony Ciarelli If it's not too personal, what caused her to return to India sooner than planned?
Jackson, her Federation wanted her to come back for a meet, which she didn't even throw in, so she was supposed to be here training in California for 6-8 weeks but she had to go back after three and a half. I think the other 3-4 weeks of training here with Rutger would/could have helped. Just for the weather alone, it has been over 100 degrees just about everyday where she lives. Here in Newport it's a breezy 75 everyday, and like I said let alone the great training partner.

Ug... plus no coach. The insanity of our sport.
Congratulations toko @dinahakeai you should be extremely proud of yourself. First Commonwealth Games and finishing 4th is fantastic. Take this experience and come back stronger then ever. Ofa Atu.
Twenty-six year old Berlin world champion from Australia Dani Samuels showed her form with a 1st round winner of 62.30m 204-04. Her 3rd round 64.88m 212-10 was well clear of the field and put a gold Commonwealth Games medal in her bag to go along with her bronze from 2006 Melbourne. It is great to see Indian thrower Seema Punia throw a 2014 best in the 5th round, 61.61m 202-01 inspite of being pulled away from her coach @Tony Ciarelli during training. If only the federation would support her as she needs. English Jade Lally won the bronze with her own 2014 best in the 5th round of 60.48m 198-05. Twenty-year old Siostina Hakeai marked herself as a future star with her 4th place result.
