Looks like the American men (US and Canada) have kept pace with the Europeans by switching to the rotation. When will more women follow the path Camarena-Williams did to bring home hardware?

Nice interview from <wired.com> touching on the issue from a couple years ago.
There’s More to Shot Put Than ‘Beastly Women’
BY JEFF BECKHAM 08.06.12
"...in 2004, Camarena-Williams switched her throwing style from glide to spin. At 5' 10"... [Craig Carter] thought the added rotation would generate more momentum. Within four months, [she] was getting more distance..." -
I'd like to see Michelle Carter give it a try. How late in one's career can one make the change? @Smithy, with your high-end skill in shot put/ discus would you and @Tony Ciarelli consider making a change to the rotational technique?
-
Are there any world class spinners in Germany, Poland or Russia?
-
Alena Kopets has for my understanding of rotational shot put a realy good form. A little bit straight forward, but very effectiv.

The "Old dog new tricks" adage comes to mind, it would depend on how much time it would take to get them beyond the level they are already at. Their ability to to transfer energy in a rotational movement is the key, maybe their gliders for a reason. I mean I would not try to switch Rutger back to being a glider at this point in his career.
-
Why would Michelle Carter need to learn the spin? She's doing quite well with the glide.
-
Ms. Carter's 20m throws are an excellent results. But I think she would be happier and bring more medals home if she threw 21,50m. We cannot know if she can throw even 20m with a rotational style. How does one decide what is best late in their career? At the end of his career the great Spaniard Manuel Martínez attempted to change to the rotational style.

Bonus points to whomever can ID the guy sticking his head through the right-side door in the Martínez video.

Is the Rotational Shot Put Technique the Next Step Forward for US Women? Throwholics note: Coach Smith will answer your questions in the discussion thread. In the last two years, I have been conducting a personal case study involving the glide and rotational techniques performed in shot putting. In this personal study, I took a glider […]

Coach @John Smith will be answering your question in this thread.
-
@John Smith have you seen someone switch glide to spin and back to glide successfully?
-
Coach Smith,
What do you think of Aleksandr Baryshnikov's rotational technique?
Why did the Soviet Union coaching institution discontinue their throwing rotating? -
Why did the Soviet Union coaching institution discontinue their throwing rotating?
I wonder if @Justin RODHE would have any insight from Bondarchuk re. that? -
@John Smith my colleague mentioned seeing Jeneva McCall gliding in training and during warm-ups in Sopot. Can you explain?
-
I have never seen this. I do know when deciding if somone is a glider or a spinner i run glide workouts and spin workouts equally for 3 to 6 months and see what technique produces the best marks heavy to light implements.
-
I have not seen an American 65'+ standing throw in 20 years.
Who was that?
What is the biggest stand throw you've seen? Heard of? -
Jeneva has use the glide for 8 years. Spin for 2 years. Gliding is part of the training for the spin. Rotate into a gliders finish. The glide is like a standing throw for the spin. She glides distance x then the spin will go distance x.
-
Biggest stand i have ever seen was 70 feet by Kevin akins in person. Many 20m stands back during the 80s. Timmerman in his paper reported 21.89, beyer from good sources 22m.

As a youth coach would should I train my girls with the 2kg and 3kg shot put even when they compete with the 4kg shot put? @John Smith
