My freshman thrower threw 172' 7" ( 52,50m) with a 1.6kg discus yesterday at the Triton Inv. That is a foot off the California state record.

Excellent, name, age and size?

Coach @Bill Pendleton have you thought about having him compete a few times with a 1,5kg discus to have a mark to submit to the IAAF World Youth list? 30th on the U18 2013 list is 56,69m. -
His name is Bronson Osborn. He is 6' 2.5" 240 lbs. 15 years old, birthday in July.
He also has a 17,15m throw with a 12 lb shot (5.45 kg) That's a good idea about the 1.5kg discus but I will have to search quite a bit to find a meet to throw it in. -

Just ask if he can throw six after a meet and have the results tagged on. -
We definitely will do it although it seems like next year will be the big deal. All the throwers on that list are '96 - '97 birthdays and he's '98 so he has a while. If he goes any farther I will try and do what you said.
-
He went 17,39m (57' 1") in the shot today.
-
Another pr. He went 18.35 ( 60' 3.5 ) in our trimeet today with a 12 lb. We have cycled down in preparation for a big invitational Saturday.

So that was a 3' PB?
What was his series? -
That 18,35m puts Osborn in the lead for making the US World Youth team for the 2015 meet in Cali, Colombia. I wonder if he can take some throws with the 5kg ball?
-
18,67m (61' 3") was 30th on the 2013 world youth list with the 5kg ball (11.03 pounds).
-
Nick I assume the qualifying for that meet also takes place next spring. We will make sure he has marks with the 5 kg shot then. Let me know if I'm wrong.

If I remember right the US allows marks with the 5.4kg to qualify for the trials... they may even have a separate 5.4kg standard.

We had # 7 and # 8 additions to the 60' club so far. Will Truong senior 6' 1 240 threw 61' and freshman Bronson Osborn 6' 2.5 235 threw 60' 3.
