As expected, it was a bombastic WC Shot Put final. The fight for gold was between the defending Indoor World Champion Ryan Whiting and two-time Outdoor World Champion David Storl. Right from the beginning one knew it would be only one of them who bring the gold home. Whiting defended his indoor WC title with a […]

@Tom Walsh congratulations!! What a competiton of yours!
-
I noticed Storl recorded three fouls.
What type where they? -
I wonder if @Ryan Whiting would trade two indoor worlds gold for one Olympic gold?
-
A few points to add to the discussion
1. The spinners don't really tense up in big comps. The issue is the length of the comp. WIC and Diamond Leagues are 1hour. Olympics etc.... Are two hours long. Hard to hold rhythm
2. Steel ball is thrown at WIC. No adjusting to except from training with plastic and then competing with steel (mainly a North American problem).
3. It us not uncommon for a good young thrower to become better at training and producing steady performances as they mature, but this does not necessary mean bigger PR's when this is all happening. Many times a better indicator of a big throw coming on is big fouls. Tomasz Majewski showed us this on his way to breaking through in 2008. -
I would like the see Jeneva McCall spin herself into the top-3 but that's a bit of a stretch.
How many of these men are rotational throwers?
-

I would pick Olympic gold.
Are the Indoor World lesser than the Outdoor Worlds? -
Does anyone else think @Tom Walsh is either still sleeping or hasn't gone to bed?
I wonder if he made it to watch @Val Adams at qualifying? -

Ha, we should have a poll.
"Was Tom Walsh at the morning qualifying session"

Are the Indoor World lesser than the Outdoor Worlds?I think I would keep what I built.

Anyone know have a list?
Without researching:
Whiting - spin
Storl - glide
Walsh - spin
Majewski - glide
Robert - spin -
I heard Sopot's ring was not suitable for rotational throwers, set-up well for the gliders.Any thoughts?

Maybe that's why @Ryan Whiting had the odd rhythm. -
Where did you get this rumour from?
See what kind of bomb @Ryan Whiting did? 22,05m one cannot toss with a unsuitable ring -
Jeneva told me the ring was a 3 for her on a 1 to 10 scale with 10 being the best.. We expected a gliders ring.

Of course. Home ring advantage. -
Okay, is Georgi Ivanov a long-short glider!?
