Has Mr. Gill qualified for the IAAF Indoor World Championship meet in Poland? If so I plan that he would attend the meet to show his steel verses the North Americans and Europeans. His teammate Mr. Walsh can also join him for two New Zealand citizens at the championship meet. That would be great, agreed?

I wonder if he competes enough, although that has not been a problem before. Also I wonder if he can reach the 21 m. mark, in competition?
-
Is anyone in contact with Jacko? Or able to reach him?
Maybe @Tom Walsh ? -
I haven't heard on his competition status but i can only speculate that he will come out pumped for his next one. Now that Walsh has broken Gills record, Gill has someone to push him and a reason to work harder than he has before.

If he works any harder, he will explode!

Hopefully he will be able to bring in on the shot. Pure strength doesn't help -
I haven't been in contact with Jacko for a long time. He has, you all know, dropped off the face of the world. But I've heard a rumor that he may be competing around the start of Feb but who knows?

"Gill's next committed target is to compete at the New Zealand Championships, which take place in Wellington from March 28-30." according to the former cited article.

So Gill's skipping indoor Worlds.

Yeah why would he skip world championships?
Is he not ready to bounce with the 7kg ball? -
Apparently, he is taking it step by step....Commonwealth Games, and so on...
-
Maybe it is the right way to do it. He is still so young and his complete career ahead of him.
Later on no one cares what one has done at youth or junior levels. -

Would it not be best to gain international experience? I say he knows best for himself but he is missed.

QuoteRead in the World Indoor Championships competition entry standards document for Sopot 2014:
Youth athletes (any athlete aged 16 or 17 years on 31 December 2014, i.e. born in 1997 or 1998) CANNOT be entered in the Men's Shot Put.
I guess that is what we call a Jacko Gill provision!!

Why would anyone do such a rule? -
Dylan this might help those young throwers to prevent any kind of damage. And Jacko could have competed at WC, he's born in December 1994 hence this rules doesn't apply to him.

Jacko was old enough to compete at World Indoors as I think he is turning 20 at the end of the year. It would have been great to have him there but he choose not to try and qualify for it and therefor did have a mark.
But his next comp will be NZ Nats at the end of March. Well, that's if he wants to go to the Comm' Games or not
