I hadnt thought about that relationship before.
I understood shotputter ideal angle (~42)to be less than the pure physics angle (=45)because of the asymmetry of the shot trajectory from a side view. The figertip push can be 7-8 feet higher than the divot in the ground.
I just found this paper to read with my warm protein cocoa tonight.
