WC Shot Final
Friday (not TGI's)...
Will show that the American shot put training cuisine of chips and soda must come to an end... in order to be a champion.

What would a straight sweep show you?
Murdock:
That the chips and soda diet seems to be working the past decade...
Highly doubt it... You'll see .. stay tuned (soda in hand optional)

In celebration of Dylans amazing accomplishment. We need to take a closer look at the awesome variety of fresh, quality seafood and aquaculture available to us in Nova Scotia.

I wanted to revisit the discussion from this weekend. A few people brought up the points that the reason for the US struggles were
1.)loosing talent to football and 2.)not seeing enough world class competitions.
Would it be fair to ask the question if the problem is coming from the top? I know the throws is not the only area we've lost ground and before worlds I had been hearing a lot of chatter about the US not bringing any golds back this summer. Obviously that wasn't the case but the fact that people are now talking that way for the first time says a lot in my opinion.
Obviously you're not going to win the fight with the bigger sports unless you're paying big money. But to be this far behind when track was pretty popular not terribly long ago in the states is pretty bad. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the subject.published at Sep 6th 2011 1:02pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

This situation is very similar to USA basketball. America clearly has the best in the world but they frequently underperform at worlds and olympics.
This has nothing to do with training, losing talent to football, spinning, gliding or anything else.
The issue here is that the American track system/season consistently sets the Americans up to fail.
Making the team and throwing 70' all over the world from jan-august is how these guys earn their money throwing....and its a horrible way to prepare for big meets in september.published at Sep 6th 2011 1:44pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

Quote from John Davis
Thanks to a little perspective from Viking I am thinking about getting back into throwing. According to him there must be scores now for figure, technical merit, and artistic impression. I had no idea that shot putting had become figure skating. I think I finally have a chance. Secondly, all that competing for the US is a bunch of crap. I am going to change citizenship so that I only have to hit an A standard in a meet that is centered around me and then train only for the World Champs or Olympics. This way I will not have to compete with 10 other guys trying to take my lunch money at every given turn. It is harder to make the US team than win a medal at a Championships. Screw that. They are so misguided. 4 guys in the World Championship final--what a bunch of failures. I remember being in the testing room after the 2001 World Championships with Mikhnevich and he and his coach were looking all nervous. I didn't know it was the bodyfat test he was worried about. Glad that upstanding gentleman got another chance. That consistent throwing over 21-22m for a decade plus and taking and passing all the requisite drug tests...what a bunch of suckers. No one outside the US has ever done that or had to. Having to compete every week to earn money to support your family, training, and holding down a real job...sounds like a bunch of losers to me.

What are the top three fav chips of the american throws?
traditionally its been thought that most of the thowers at that level were into sweet chili heat.. but im not so sure its accurate..
I think maybe there was a misunderstanding. that the top chip (may) be a sweet potatoe alternative.. its risky..
any thoughts? windbags.published at Sep 6th 2011 4:51pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

Quote from Meisner
I remember always hearing the story about the 1996 Olympic trials.
C.J Hunter would be too cheap to buy his own chips and sodas and would often bum chips from the other putters..
anyway to make a long story short. Godina had just picked up BBQ Ruffles (apparently his fav..)
He was doing overhead bucket throws off the toeboard warming up and caught CJ sneaking chips from his kit bag..
huge fight I guess and things were never the same between the guys..published at Sep 6th 2011 6:04pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/
