Perfect example of how Athletics Canada and the meet organizers in Calgary missed a great opportunity to market the event. You don't have sector lines down for the National Champs? How about a line for the Canadian Record. What a shame.

The throws almost across the board were very good for a Canadian Champs. Lots of good battles for different titles (except Men's shot) and for various places.

I still think that for so many colleges that simply cannot contend with the huge state school budgets on a dollar-for-dollar basis, that working on a specialized program is a good way to garner some national attention, maybe an Olympian, a national champion for good school media coverage.

Nice, too, to have a bunch of kids who can encourage and work with each other. Better this than a small t&f budget watered down trying to slot in athletes in every event.

SMU specialized quite a bit with throwers a decade ago with great success as did nearby TCU using sprinters in its case. With both of these particular specialties (throws and sprints) you can recruit athletes who often can compete very effectively in more than one event. I guess, too, that these two specialties also work well with football programs. I suspect the football coach might like a top class shot-putter or a sprinter over recruiting an 800 meter runner.

Tony, the s-curve statistic seems like a reasonable way to approach a fair ranking.
