I sent 3 pairs of shoes to Stella's Shoes and Leather Repair (http://www.resole.com) in September and another pair in October (UPS tracking #s are 1Z2WX1100320601838 and 1Z2WX1100355951369). They cashed my check. I've called at least a dozen times, spoke with Lou the owner on most calls and was given excuses that involved supplier problems, employee problems, too much business and more. The two most recent calls have resulted in assurances that my shoes have been repaired and mailed back to me. I have no shoes.
I would strongly recommend finding an alternative. You can find the soling material online (as I have) and can probably get a local shoe repair store to do the work (as I have).published at Mar 10th 2011 11:47am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

Could you post the online sources you've used for the resole material? Also, and I'm guessing you're in the Chicago-area, could you post the name of the local shoe repair store you've used? I'm sure many would find this helpful.
Thanks very much,

The material Stella's used for a very fast sole was Vibram 7673 pro tania protective rubber (2mm thickness). My HS throwers think it is faster than new Nike Rotational Zoom 4s. I found it on ebay and bought it from nordshoe (which ironically is in a Cleveland suburb; Stella's is in Cleveland). General searches for Vibram will result in many different soling materials which, I'm sure would create different results.
The shop I referred to was Shoe Repair Express in Naperville. The owner had several different sheets of Vibram already, but not the one above. I don't know if he is set up for repairs by mail.
I don't think the actual repair is that difficult so local repair shops may be capable. Stella's just glues the material over the existing soles and tapers the edges up the sides of the shoe.published at Mar 10th 2011 1:30pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

Thanks for the soling material and store info!! I live close enough to Naperville to make a trip there worthwhile.

Check this out. It takes you back to last years SP at the NCAA's and a mark was mismarked by almost a meter. nothing was done about it. This story was about great sportmanship!
