Cory Martin is now the top modern-day men's shot-hammer doubler, surpassing Dylan Armstrong. Brittany Borman is the new top modern-day women's discus-javelin doubler.

Great to see the updated list but Armstrong has buggered it up for you by throwing farther hee hee, "events dear boy events" as the quotation goes.
I love the lists, hasn't Fazekas thrown farther that 66m, more like 71m for discus and hammer list?
and what about a percentage of the world records at the time of the athletes PR?
then mac Wilkins would be in an interesting situation, 21.06 to 22.15, amd 70.98 to 71.16, same with Schmidt and Brenner, or to go far into the past O'Brien.. but that would be a monumental work.
Maybe of the modern era post 1970, Mac Wilkins 1, Schmidt 2, Brenner 3 ?
cheers,
Leo
PS I like the page very much and appreciate your work in updating it.Thanks.published at Jun 3rd 2010 6:02pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

Yes, it is hard to keep this combo list updated when it is done manually and not plugged in to any database and programmed to automatically update.
One important thing to note is the rankings in each combo list is dependent on the thrower's weakest event in that list, so Fzekas throwing further in the discus does not improve his score in the discus-hammer list. Because of that, I have been lazy about updating his discus PRs.
in the past, I also kept track of one-day or same-year combos, and so listed the meet mark or seasonal best mark in the stronger event, which is often not the PR.published at Jun 3rd 2010 7:10pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

Tony,
I need to re-read your assumptions and rules but one name that comes to mind is Al Oerter in the shot/discus category.
Oerter won the 1958 Texas Relays shot put event with 56-1, or 88.82% of the then WR. He would have been snugged right up on the discus WR then, too, and of course held it later on several times.
And, I am not certain whether the 56-1 was his best competitive throw ever. But, it is one in the record books.
Cheers! Bradpublished at Jun 3rd 2010 8:14pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

it was so great to put together ...seeing these guys , remember how we all looked up to them so much? ART BURNS, MAC WILKINS, BEN PLUCKNETT, JOHN POWELL ....would have loved to have some film of JIM McGOLDRICK too , he was the only one of that group I didn't get....they actually raised us as throwers.
