For Adam to be sub-20m all season and come in when it counts to go 21m was just an amazing effort. Funny how times change so quickly in sports. It seems like yesterday that he was the young kid out of Dartmouth and now he's the elder statesman. I'm pulling for the "old" man at Worlds.

As A.J Kruger won the Nationals is he the only one going as no one has an "A" qualifying mark 77.50m?? Or has the criteria changed??

I think you mean A.G. Kruger...
As far as I know Freeman will also be making the trip to Berlin.published at Jun 30th 2009 11:02am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

The world championships is easier to get to than the Olympics. Kruger threw the A standard last year, which counts towards this year, so he's going. And if a country only has one or two athletes who have the A standard, they can send one B standard athlete as well. Hence, Freeman gets a spot on the team, since he was the highest placing B standard guy at nationals.

How's this for embarassment of riches/helluva predicament...
Following our 45 minute key note speech/Q&A with 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Stephanie Brown-Trafton, our campers & coaches had to choose between the following:
A) Mac Wilkins, Discus
B) Kevin McMahon, Hammer
C) Duncan Atwood/Karin Smith, Javelin
D) Ramona Pagel, Glide Shot
E) David Dumble, Rotational Shot
We ask that they go to two different sessions of their choice within a 3.5 hour time period... Which probably wasn't too tough for most of the kids, but boy you've never seen a bigger group of confused coaches in your life!! Lots of "ok you video tape so and so, and I'll cover so and so" going on for sure! Man am I thankful to have such a great group of people helping us at camp this year! Great weather too... Now, if I can only find a way to keep everyone from trying to one-up MacKay for the "Iron Man of Iron Wood" award... then, life would be perfect!
Cheers,

Mike Mai gets a spot for the team as well. I won the 2007 NACAC meet which qualifies me as having the 'A' mark under the area champion rule IAAF has. So 3 hammer throwers going to Berlin.

Yup, Mike Mai used to throw down at Coach Mac's throws center in Eugene. I actually used to work with him at Ft. Lewis, he used to tell me how much bigger and stronger Chris was than me (circa 2010). Can't say as we had many 'good' conversations, just very different personalities; get too many strong ones in a room and something's bound to give. Not doing much throwing 250', are we now? But grats on the new baby, that's what's important.
By the way, I'd like to wish Coach Mack a speedy recovery, and get those HDLs up Coach...he's a sweetheart and a friggin bank of knowledge, if you've ever talked to the guy; also one of the few left from the 'classic' T&F days. We'll make that EFFORTLESS THROW happen, coach, I'm still bankin' my left arm.
