He got the silver in '05 behind nelson. Then got a bronze in the disc in '07. Only guy to ever win a medal in both at the World Championships, which always surprised me that people don't make a big deal over that. He's also the first guy in a while to make the finals in the shot and disc at the Olympics, isn't he?

I loved throwing the shot and if I trained full time I could probably throw around 20m. But I love having a steady paycheck, good insurance, benefits, a nice house, being able to take care of my family, and the ability to extend my right arm a whole lot more.

Call me a selfish American, but thats how I feel and probably most everyone else feels the same. If I thought I could throw 71' instead of 66' things might be different.

All I'm saying is a 21-21.50m glider would have a tougher time making it in the US with 3 spinners going over 22m.

You remember that huh? It was more the plastic cast up to the middle knuckle than the mummy tape job. As I think about it now, if I would've rolled one off my finger, it would've broken my finger in half. Thank God for the discus and hammer. Leave the shot for the real men and the javelin for the crazy people!
