Mr. Kemeny could easily beat me in the shot, glide or spin. He is a beast. Injuries and the desire to have gainful employment kept him from 20m.
Discus is a different story.
Mr. Bahrkie, I do not prefer the Clones, however, I may need to make peace with them, as one of my daughters is considering the design school there.
My basic view on the glide is that the baby has been thrown out with the bathwater in the last generation of throwers. Probably too many folks are spinning.
W8coach, who do you consider to be throwers with "solid spin technique"? Are you saying that Cantwell, Nelson, and Hoffa are all "opting for the strength component"?

the spin really is a good alternative in throwing it is just the THROWER that needs to learn to focus and relax....also interesting that of our three guys , it is the guy with the lowest level spotlight on him, Christian that was able to come thru it. Reese and Adam had such a HUGE spot light of expectation not many of us would have done any different today.
Just thoughts...my heart felt compasion goes out to Reese and Adam...these situations are tough...and to Christian you came thru this YOUR way , I know you wanted more but you did very very well with what you had in front of you....I think you will take this lesson a LONG WAY to other Olys, and the WR if you want to go that way!!!

If he had learned to displace his lt hip to the middle creating a vaccum of linear forces across the ring, he would have been a 22+ thrower as well.

Jill has done well after her back surgery.
Interestingly, only 2 of the 15 girls that qualified for the final are spinners, Jill and Chiara ROsa of Italy. Auto Qualifying was only 18.45m, and 15 reached that mark.
Valerie Vili was leading qualifier at 19.73m, but the Chinese Junior (19 year old) Gong had a PR throw of 19.46m. 3 Chinese in the final.
