Has anyone heard anything new about Adam's ribs? I'm sure he's gunning to go but is there still physical pain?

Dan, I found you listed in old records with your 183 plus foot nonqualifier at the 1979 NCAAs... it was way deep in the meet archives, so your name didn't show up in the qualifying marks of those making it into the final group, which makes sense.
Stats for 1979: 3 guys over 200' in qualifying and it took over 188' to make the finals. Wow! A very competitive year.
Two names jumped out at me: Kerry Adkinson, the now deceased wrestler out of University of Houston with a throw about a foot below you; and, Marcus Gordien who I think was the low qualifier for the finals. I take it that this would be Fortune Gordien's son???
Finally, years ago in 1997 in San Jose at the Master Nationals, there was a thrower there named Tim Fox and he won the 40-44 age group that year. A very fine thrower with a polished style. Not very tall as I recall, but a true stylist in the ring. Now I know why he was so good... he was well over 200' as a collegian throwing in that same NCAA meet in 1979.
Yet another elite collegian who showed up at a Masters meet though I haven't seen or heard of any more meets for him since then.
Once your hip repairs, hit a few meets and see if you can hang a 200 footer.
*** A good friend heard that Ralph F. was bench pressing 460. If accurate, he is a very strong 53 year old.
Cheers! Bradpublished at Aug 15th 2008 3:54am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

If you want to see the last throw in Spokane, go to http://danjohn.org/tv
It took a while for me to get over that NCAAs. I threw well and gave it my best. I wish I would have had a "Dan John," so to speak to talk to after that meet.
I just had so little wiggle room to qualify. 183 didn't make it through the Q at a college meet...

Thanks for writing that "Contrarian" article and for making it available on line. Lots of great tips and motivational stuff in there. I think I have it just about memorized by now.

I see a number of questions about olympic coverage.
Here in Canada, the CBC has SEPERATE internet streams for
- Men's 100m - Round 1 (starting 8:49pm EST, I assume it will also carry the Heptathlon 100m hurdles)
- Women's HighJ - Heptathlon (starting 8:49pm, event though that's not on until 10:30)
- Men's Hammer - Qualifying (but this also starts at 8:49 with Hammer not until 10:40, so I am hoping for Shot Put Qualifying also!)
I'd think NBC streams something similar?published at Aug 15th 2008 6:10am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

Frisbees, who said that, let me at him, I'm holding the gorilla back.
Isn't it about time the shot starts? Like in about 2.5 hours? 6 pm PST, 9pm EST? This is going to be a great day...tomorrow that is...
A week ago was the opening ceremonies...Many years ago, watching the parade, teams would walk in...in lines and it would be a party atmosphere, which this year it was and most of all the US had a transplant distance runner carry the flag and he held it at an angle...my belief was that the stars and strips were never to be dip. And, Bush was in the stands...I'm guessing folks we are in for another war called WWIII. Wait till after the games.....published at Aug 15th 2008 7:45am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/
