What are everyone's thoughts on the straps/sleeves that Hoffa, Martin, and others wear for throwing the shot? Do they work better than a traditional tape job, or are they simply more convenient?

What length are those wraps you use? I thought about getting those, but didn't think they'd be stiff enough. If you lose circulation, I guess I'm wrong. Maybe I can save some $$ on tape!

I'm getting ready to move into different residence. I have a bunch of gear that I would rather not drag along during the move.
Everything is brand new unless noted. The list below is what I have:
1. 1.75k OTE VHM discus (Anyone going to the US Juniors???).
2. 2k OTE VHM discus
3. 2k UCS Purple Flyer discus
4. 1k Gill Saturn II discus
5. 16lb Polanik Hammer (steel, not stainless)
6. Assorted sizes of neoprene support belts, elbow sleeves, and knee wraps.
Shoot me an e-mail with offers if you are interested. I'm good to go with Paypal.
Cheers,

Quote from Dan P
Yea i think I spent 15-20 bucks on the wraps and they're long enough to wrap around my wrists 3 times. So they end up being pretty tight. I abuse them pretty bad between benching, throwing, cleans, snatch, push press, etc etc etc. If you figure its something like 6-12 bucks for a 6 pack of tape its very worth it to cough up the extra 10 or so to get some wraps thatll last quite awhile.

I've used Everlast boxing wraps that you can buy from Dicks for throwing shot. I think you can get a pair for about $5 and they're long enough to cover the break of the wrist to the mid forearm with more support than tape.

Jordan Clarke breaks 200 feet in his final High School meet on 6/7/08 to be one of the few(around 10 throwers) to reach 200' and 70' as a high schooler.. Great job Jordan. Have fun at ASU
From the Anchorage Daily News:
Bartlett's Jordan Clarke, who has dominated Alaska high school throwing events for years, showed he's the best in the West with two wins Saturday at the Golden West Invitational in Sacramento.
Clarke, one of four Alaskans competing, took the discus title with a throw of 204 feet, 10 inches, more than 20 feet farther than runner-up Colin Quirke of Los Gatos, Calif.
It was a little closer in the shot put as Clarke, who's headed to Arizona State in the fall, uncorked a throw of 64-10 1/2. Quirke was second with a toss of 62-02 1/4.
Two weeks ago at the state meet in Fairbanks, Clarke uncorked a throw of 71-3 to set the state record to grab the national season-best mark by a high school thrower.
Clarke had a few throws of more than 70 feet Saturday but fouled, according to Kodiak running coach Marcus Dunbar, who watched the shot put with an interested crowd.
"They knew he was leading the country," said Dunbar via cell phone. "A few people were hoping to see that big 70-foot throw that he's capable of. To come down here and win both is pretty remarkable."
Last year, Clarke finished fourth in both events at the same meet, heaving the discus 184 feet and reaching 61 feet, 7 inches in the shot put.published at Jun 16th 2008 11:42am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/
