Quote from Bud RasmussenDisplay MoreThanks for the input. Once again I will be reviewing this situation with USATF national office and then discussing interpretations with the Pacific Association officials so that we can stage the event properly.
However, I am certain that we will stick with our original format of providing 2 sections of wDT and 3 sections of mDT so that all 46 participants get 6 attempts. As this is definitely the wish of the athletes not officials or meet promoters...
Salinas, as usual, is viewed as a key meet for several athletes in their pursuit to obtain the A standard required to initially qualify for the Games in Beijing.
Not to fear though, there will be several other options (i.e. Mt. Sac, Triton, Modesto, Reebok, and Pre) domestically for the athletes to experience the traditional format of multiple fields funneling into a final. Perhaps you and Coach Rodney can make it over from Reno to see if the competition rings "true" with "high energy" among the throwers... My bet is you won't be disappointed!
