    My 15 year old son has expressed an interst in learning to throw the hammer. I understand that H.S competition either uses the 12 lb. or 6 kg (International?) What weight do you guys reccommend a young thrower like him start off with or what assortment of weights should you have? I see them offered as low as 2 Kg. Thanks

    It's been well over a year now since I've been in the gym. Working, married life, etc. have all contributed to my lenghty absence from the gym. However, this hasn't bothered me until lately. While I've admittedly put on a few pounds in recent memory, I've also noticed that my muscles are like the "Old Gray Mare"...they ain't what they used to be. Sure I've lost some muscle mass, but I would expect that. However, I've also noticed that I am beginning to have a hard time just standing up and walking after sitting for a long time. Is this due to muscle atrophy (are my muscles fading away to the point that I am having a hard time finding the strength to stand up), or is this just general stiffness from sitting? If so, what's the best way to counter this since I can't make it to the gym?

    i started up at the gym like i had and i was burning myself up...

    i highly suggest you go get a physical at the doctors... full blood labs... if u have the insurance for it. then i would highly recommend speaking to a personal trainer... get started on some conditioning.... granted condition wont make you throw farther technically, but you gotta get your heart and lungs in shape. i went to the doctor did a week of conditioning and i then started to lift... i then began to have exertion headaches and since have taken time off.. i realize now that you need to get your self in workout shape before you can start working out.
