Watch this video and look for the SORINEX stamp on the kettle bells (not the ears) This just validates that the APOCOLYPSE is quickly approaching and that a passport should be required to enter Georgia.

Hi, I am a first time poster, although I have read through postings some during the last year. I am wondering if anyone has any good plyo workout and/or core workout for the hammer. I believe I read something once about Lance Deal's core workout? Let me know if anyone has anything good...THX!

I posted this a few years ago. BUt its still good.
So many people placing mental limitations on things, when there are plenty of pitfalls already (like injuries).
Can someone throw distance 22.00m in the shot clean? Of course itpublished at Jul 7th 2007 4:33am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

Walking winds are great for specific core strength. Do these by walking forward while winding, concentrate on reaching with each stride and feel for the stretch through the abs.
If you want to make them harder, limit the amount of elbow bent you have while winding. You can also do them while walking back wards and for fun do them walking side ways. Anything you can do to stimulate the body to get stronger!
Work out example: Wind turns x 15, walking winds back x15. Repeat non dominate side.
Let me know what you think

Interesting read, Happy Thrower. I've often wondered about something else related to that.
Most throwers/lifters/other similar sports, when they get a personal best, usually say it felt effortless. Usually, this is because their technique was dead on and they just let the technique do all the work. So, does this happen out of coincidence, or out of being relaxed enough to tell your mind to shut up and just let your technique do its thing?
In my experience, it has been the latter. I have always gotten my farthest throws when I was most relaxed. So, does this mean I could throw much farther if I put more effort into these relaxed throws that have perfect technique? (Its a confusing way to put it, I know.)
My point is, are we only going to throw PBs when we are relaxed enough to hit perfect positions? Or is there a way to "relax intensely" so we can hit perfect positions but consciously put forth maximum effort? Unfortunately, I don't know...published at Jul 7th 2007 7:43am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

I have no clue if anyone else on this forum is a NASCAR fan (I do know that John Godina is because of an article that I read about him in 1999). But, since I am, I need to rant about something. NASCAR keeps ticking me off with the recent crap they keep pulling. For example, this top-35 driver points rule-it sucks! FOr those who don't know, if you are in the top-35 in car owner points each week, you are guaranteed to make the race. If not, you have to beat 8-9 other drivers on time to make the race. The down-side to that is that you could be the 12th or 13th fastest car on the track and not make the race. And, if you are in the top 35, all you really have to do to make the race is do a lap at half speed and you're in.
The real kicker is that the guys outside the top-35 aren't there because they stink-for the most part they are new teams with no starts last year. Thus, they started out the year not making races, thus leaving them out of the top 35. And these aren't poor teams-for example Red Bull...how deep of a pocket would you ever want for a sponsor?
My point is, why not let the fastest in the field make the race flat-out..like Track and Field?! Who cares if Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, or Dale, Jr. fail to qualify? I missed the finals tons of times throwing-so what?
Anyone else have an opinion on this or am I talking to myself?
Jay
P.S. - And to top it off, several non-top-35 teams had qualified in the top 10 for the Pepsi 400 today when, after 39 cars qualified, the rain came and washed qualifying out-meaning these guys went home after they were going to make the show and ... you guessed it, "Wonderboy" starts first! I'm going to start watching the Indy Racing League if this trend continues.published at Jul 7th 2007 9:24am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

When those big names arent in the races no one wants to watch. It is like when you watch golf. They will cover Tiger Woods.. even if he is in last place....
In for throwers, it would take near world record marks for us to get the attention we deserve... I am kind of disapointed that Greer hasnt gotten more attention.. But I guess that is just the way it is.published at Jul 7th 2007 9:44am on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/

FYI:
I am giving you a
chance to be on television. The next event we are taping is this Sunday
at Synergy Sports & Fitness in Toledo, OH. It is an Open Olympic
Weightlifting Meet. I suggest you give Synergy a call if you want to lift
in the meet. This pilot may not go anywhere, but then I never thought I
would get asked to do a pilot. Their phone number is 419-537-0001.
Here is the link for Synergy:

Yes, I agree (on a couple of points actually):
1.) Throws (nor track and field for that matter) do not get the coverage that it deserves. I'd rather watch paint dry than to watch the 5,000. But, track and field, in my opinion, is one of the last bastians of pure "sport" in the world. T & F Athletes as a whole don't make much compared to other professional athletes, yet they are true athletes because they train hard, compete hard, and don't get arrested on a daily basis for stupid, petty crap (see Pacman Jones).
2.) The NASCAR Top-35 qualifying structure is admittedly a system designed to ensure that the "top teams" are in the race every week. I assure you, if Dale, Jr. hadn't signed on with Hendrick Motorsports for next season (the #5 team who is in the top-35) we would've seen an immediate abolition of the top-35 rule starting next season. After all, what would NASCAR be without having Dale, Jr. on the track...non-existent is the best word.
While I love NASCAR (and hunting, fishing, bourbon, etc.-all things Kentucky), I am getting tired of the way that corporate America has caused the France family to "dilute" the sport from a competitive form of auto racing into the ultimate outlet from advertising. But, yes, it comes down to money and, without it, NASCAR would cease to exist. However, I don't think money should dictate actual competition in any sport.

Jayess:
As a thrower, you'd like going to a race. I always pack plenty of junk to eat, get lots of free dip at the track, and, if you are so inclined, are allowed to drink as much beer as you can fit in a six-pack cooler at the track (not that I do, mainly because I always go with family and don't want to get tanked in front of them). Plus, as the only benefit of corporate sponsor, you can always spot the Hawaiian Tropic girls, Skoal girls, (Insert other corporate sponsor here)girls, etc. It's a pretty sweet deal. Plus, to be there is a lot different than seeing it on TV.

From an article on huskers.com about the Big 12 female athlete of the year:
"Other female candidates were: Lisa Ferguson (Baylor softball), Jenny Barringer (Colorado cross country and track), Lyndsey Medders (Iowa State basketball), Egor Agafonov (Kansas track and field), Courtney Paris (Oklahoma basketball), Courtney Totte (Oklahoma State softball), Destinee Hooker (Texas track and field/volleyball), Amanda Scarborough (Texas A&M softball) and Ana Morton (Texas Tech soccer)."
When in doubt, make fun of Kansas. Sometimes being in Nebraska isn't all that bad...published at Jul 7th 2007 3:45pm on http://www.effortlessthrow.org/
