The American Shelbi VAUGHAN tried all she could to beat the German favorites and she nearly succeeded when she tooks the lead in the 4th round with 60,07m with Shanice CRAFT 2nd with 58,51m and Anna RUH struggling at only 57,87m . But Anna managed to get her technique back together and threw 58,48m in the 5th , then got the winning throw in her last attempt with 62,38m. This last round also costed Shelbi her silver medal when Shanice got 60,42m to complete the German double in front of the American. New Zealand , like USA and Germany had also 2 girls in the final and was at the end quite happy with the 4th position of Sositina HAKEAI with 56,17m and a NZL record et Mere VAKA finishing 10th. But Mere was also the youngest of the finalists and will be probably seen again at the next World juniors in Eugene in 2 years. DP
