The hips are the most important joint and muscle group for almost all "land based" athletic endeavors. Strength is important when it comes to the function of this joint, but mobility is essential as well. If an athlete cannot reach the proper positions or range of motion through their hips, their performance will be limited.
Hurdle mobility is a nice way to remedy this, and it also offers several other great benefits such as:
Hip extensor and flexor strength
Strength off the forefoot (if performed correctly)
General strength and fitness
