On Saturday’s competition in Romanian Pitesti, Tobias Dahm was one of the three men who tossed the 7kg ball over the 20m barrier. The German indoor champion meets the European Championships standard throwing 20.10m
Shot putter Tobias Dahm made the trip to Pitesti to improve his season best. The pleasing result: For the first time, the World Indoor Championships 8th surpassed the 20-meter mark in his outdoor season. At his best attempt in the second round, the ball landed at 20.10 meters.
“The first standard is checked, now I can improve further,” said Dahm. For the standard for the Olympic Games in Rio (Brazil, August 12 to 21) he must add 40 centimeters. Training is going well.
With his result, he finished in third place behind strong Romanian U20 athletes Andrei Rares Toader, who heaved his ball to 20.54 meters and improved his own U-20 national record with the men’s shot by twenty centimeters. Surprisingly he beat his compatriot, the indoor vice champion Andrei Marius Gag (20.47 m).
