Andreas Thorkildsen is one of the best javelin throwers ever. A hip injury forced the two-time Olympic champion now to act.
Two-time javelin Olympic champion Andreas Thorkildsen (34) has ended his career. “It was a fun trip. Thanks for all the support I have received over the years,” the Norwegian wrote on Instagram.
Thorkildsen won in Athens (2004) and in Beijing (2008) Olympic gold.
Due to a hip injury, he had to have an operation in 2014 and has since denied any more competition. In 2009 Thorkildsen became world champion, 2006 and 2010, also European champion.
