Hi there throwers I wrote my last post for Throwholics back in September “Walsh reflects on breakthrough season” and since then like all throwers I spent a lot of time reflecting on the past season and what I need to do to improve, as well as recovering from injury’s, working hard on my training sessions, and also just having some time off. but I thought that I would be nice to write a post for Throwhoilics and reflect on the latest season for javelin throwers, and the amazing distances throws in the 2015 competitions.
2015 saw some of the most amazing performances by top javelin throwers in a long time, with the longest throw sailing out to 92.72 by the amazing talent Julius Yego who was crowned wold champion in 2015. As well as that an amazing 7 athletes had at least one throw over the 88m mark. (2015 top list can me found HERE) but not only success for the men but also for the women, with Kathrina Molitor throwing 67.69 in Beijing, and Sunette Viljoen throwing 66.62 in Melbourne.
So what could we bee looking at for this year?
With the possible return of 33 year old Andreas Thorkildsen who is 0n the all time longest throws list at number 7 with a throw of 91.59 back in 2006, there could be some good competition,
with 8 athletes (including the possible return of Andreas) able to throw close to if not way over 90m, who knows what 2016 could have in store for all javelin fans. And with 8 female throwers with the capability of throwing over the 70m mark. Barbora Špotáková who had a tough 2015 season could make a big comeback in 2016. who knows?
Overall I believe 2016 could possible be a big year for javelin throw fans, with possible returns to the runway, the only way we will know is to work hard and wait for the beginning of the 2016 athletics season.
On a personal note.
I’m going to be following and keeping up to date with everything javelin, as this is my personal sport and love everything about it, any news I come by that is 100% confirmed I will keep all you throwers up to date on.
