How has your training been going recently?
I have “my finger on my pulse” in the training process. Technically, I have taken a step forward this year but my shape is not the best this year; that’s why I have to find a compromise in my training.
What is the focus of your training schedule?
The focus is on finding a feeling with the hammer while I try to find a balance between fresh muscles and toning muscles. It’s fine work and that’s why it’s easy to make a training mistake this year.
Is there anything new you are implementing into your training?
Yes, I tried to train more specific and threw away a lot of exercises but in the end I was struggling to do my programm. I think that these exercises were very helpfull for my physic basis and for my health generaly.
What technical issues are you working on?
As always, hammer throwers have a lot of work with technic every year and it is hard to say on what issues I was not working. One day you find a good feeling and fixed a technical problem, one week later you will have another problem with a lot of other feelings and a lot of new work. It’s a mobile system and if somebody think he was finding out how it goes the hammer will put him back.
Where are you currently training?
I’am training in Zhukovskiy now with my family and I have everything I need here.
Will you be attending any training camps at another site? If so, where and when?
No, I will stay in Zhukovskiy.
Who is your current coach?
My coach is still my Dad.
Are you training with your coach on site or long distance?
We are always together but over the last few years he gave me a lot of freedom. I decide how I will build my training and sometimes he gives me advice. For my father is independence one of the most important skills.
Are you currently working a job? If so, what and how many hours a week?
In Russia I can earn money with Athletics.
What competitions do you have planned?
Only the World Championships in Beijing.
When will you travel to Beijing?
The 19th of August. I like to come two days before the competition starts.
Will any friends or family be travelling to Beijing?
No, I will be alone. Everybody will folow on TV or in the internet.
