How has your training been going recently?
I’m actually taking a week to give my body rest. After trials this year I took a two in a half week circuit in Europe, which consisted of three meets. After this week, I will be hitting the weight room really hard, and getting back to the basics of throwing.
What is the focus of your training schedule?
The focus of the sessions will be regaining the strength that I had when I was consistently over 63m, and regaining rhythm that I’m use to. This time will also be use to do lots of drills to get connected with the discus during the finish of the throw.
Is there anything new you are implementing into your training?
Nope, now isn’t the time to change much, we’re just going to aim to set another peak, and give it all we have left.
What technical issues are you working on?
My biggest problem when we get this late in the season is missing the discus. I’m starting to get really impatient when it comes to finishing the discus, so our target is to slow things down and work on staying long and patient. We’re also planning on doing an ample amount of non-reverse throws to make sure I’m hitting the discus cleanly.
Where are you currently training?
I’m still training at Louisiana State University.
Who is your current coach?
Are you training with your coach on site or long distance?
A little of both at the moment, with travel and meets its a mixture of face to face and distance.
What competitions do you have planned?
I’m officially done competing until Worlds, it’s been a long season and I think it’s time to get focused and prepare myself for the big one.
When will you travel to Asia? When will you travel to Beijing?
I’m currently still playing the waiting game to see if my fellow throwers can obtain the standard, so all my travel plans are up in the air. If I do get the bid to compete then I will leave late as possible, so I can get as much training back in the states as possible. Thank you.
