Philip Milanov (born 6 July 1991) is a Belgian discus thrower. He is a four-time Belgian champion and the 2015 World University Games champion in men’s discus throw. Milanov is the discus World University Games Champion 2015.

How has your training been going recently?
My training are going as usual, I am training how I always train. We never plan my training, I train what I feel I should train that day. The most important thing is too not have any injury’s.
What is the focus of your training schedule?
Because my technique is based on speed and rythm, I do alot of sprints to get in shape. Also I try to get back in shape in the weightroom, because I’m not the strongest guy.
What technical issues are you working on?
I don’t have any new specifick exercise, but I do alot of stabilisation wich improves my rotation in the ring and to stay in the ring (wich was a bit of a problem last year).
Where are you currently training?
I train in my hometown, Bruges, until 16th of August, then I leave for Japan, Chiba, to get used to the timezone. In Bruges, I have everything I need here. The weather is very nice!
Will you be attending any training camps at another site? If so, where and when?
I won’t go to any trainingcamps, because I will just lose 2 days of traveling.
Who is your current coach? Are you training with your coach on site or long distance?
My coach is my father, which is why I can choose whenever I want to go to training.
Are you currently working a job? If so, what and how many hours a week?
I don’t have any shedule for the day. I’m an professional athlete togheter with studying for wich I’m glad, because studying helps me not think about sport all the time. I passed everything this year and am very proud, which gives me confidence for the sport.
What competitions do you have planned?
I don’t have any competitions planned until the World Championships Beijing. My confidence has risen in discus and am aware you throw at your best when the body feels good.
When will you travel to Asia? When will you travel to Beijing?
We leave for beijing about 3 days before my qualifications.
Will any friends or family be travelling to Beijing?
I will be travelling with my dad, my coach. he will be the only family member. I hope the qualification go well. Also good luck to all the thowers out there!
