How things are in Japan.

Nutrition wise, thankfully Team USA provided us with food here in Tokyo, at our wonderful hotel. I do not really like to go out and get food. We can never be too careful on what we eat so we do not get sick.

I usually only have one practice a day but it lasts around three hours

I was lucky enough that the university was very accommodating to what we needed and were more than happy to allow us to use their implements. The university’s range from a 9kg, 6kg, 5kg, 4kg and 3kg. I brought along my 3.75kg ball for extra work.

I have been throwing many different balls throughout the season and plan on doing them here in Japan. Trying to keep my body on the same system as much as possible.

The rings here in my opinion were a little slow, but I have different shoes for different rings. The facilities are amazing and the people here in Japan are so sweet and caring smile emoticon. I have Nike shoes but I have a slow, medium, and fast pair. Basically the slow shoes are for a fast ring if it feels slick, the fast is for when the ring is slow/ rough. The medium pair of shoes are for the rings that are normal.

I am making a lot of different friends. I’m actually rooming with a 1500m runner Kerri [Gallagher]; she is so nice and I think we get along great :-)

It’s not really a whole lot different. At SIU sometimes I practice by myself and there are times where I practice with a lot of different people. I just think of practice here like I do back at Southern.

Sleep was really hard the first couple nights. All I wanted to do was to sleep all day here and then I would be wide awake at night. It took a little bit, but I think I finally adjusted.

I brought with me my iPad and laptop just for watching movies and relaxing. I also brought a couple books to read to pass the time. I brought along my How to Kill a Mocking Bird book and also Where the Red Fern Grows; love reading both.
