The Canadian Track & Field Championships took place at the Foote Field in Edmonton from 2nd till 5th of July. The best throwing performance was achieved by Sultana Frizell who heaved the 4kg hammer beyond the 70m and showed a great consistency throughout the entire competition. Liz Gleadle won the women javelin competition with 59.83m and Tim Nedow the men’s discus event with 60.09m.
Sultana Frizell who is currently ranked 6th in the 2015 Worlds top list won with ease the women hammer competition. Every single throw would have been enough to take the gold medal home. Sultana openend the competition with 70.59m and threw two more times beyond the 70m mark. Her best effort was measured 70.97m which is almost 3m below her seasonal best of 73.66m. Lauren Stuart placed 2nd (66.07m) and Heather Steacy 3rd (65.44,)
Liz Gleadle had not competition in the women javelin event. She won with 10m ahead of the 2nd place. Her last round throw was the best effort of the competition and measured 59.93m. Tim Nedow won the mens discus event with 60.09m, followed by Jordan Young 59.05m and Marc-Antoine Dugas who threw a personal best of 55.92m. Caleb Jones won the mens hammer event with a new season best of 74.45, followed by Evan Karakolis 72.80m (PB) and Raymond Dykstra 72.18m.
