The “Gothaer Schloss-Meeting” is a well known shot put event in Germany. The former German shot putter Andy Dittmar is the one organizing this great event. The men’s shot put competition just finished with a new meeting record of 21.68m by David Storl. Tobias Dahm followed with 19.74m to become second and Christian Jagusch 3rd with 19.48m.
Throwholics already wrote about the women’s shot put competition at which “Gong beats Schwanitz with 20.34m MR in Gotha“. Couple of minutes ago, the men’s shot put event finished as well. Unfortunately, the weather changed drastically and a massive toss by David Storl was not possible. It was raining heavily when the men’s competition started, completely different from the women’s event.
David Storl fouled his 1st attempt before moving the 7.26kg shot to the same spot he tossed it for last years meeting record of 21.52m. Tobias Dahm opened with 19.04m and Christian Jagusch was really close by only 3 centimeters short of Tobias’s toss.
No one was able to play a major role for the 1st spot on the podium besides David Storl. He threw another good one in round 4 which was measured 21.49m and then improved to his best attempt of the competition in round 5. A new meeting record of 21.68m secured a 2m gap between him and the second Tobias Dahm. He also improved throughout the competition with throws of 19.60m and in the end with 19.74. Also Christian Jagusch improved his distance and ended the competition with the best attempt of 19.48m. Dennis Lewki placed 4th with 18.59m.
