At today’s Diamond League meeting in Paris, France, Piotr Malachowski took home full points in the men’s discus event. Olympic Champion Barbora Spotakova won the women’s javelin event and also took full points. Piotr finished with 65.57m during his last attempt and Barbora with 64.42m.
The men’s discus event was not what everyone expected it to be. The Jamaican Jason Dadz Morgan who is leading the world did not throw as far as planned and finished 7th. Second of the 2015 top list, Christoph Harting is some kind of struggling as well. He finished 4th with 63.90m. The strong Polish thrower Piotr Malachowski was very happy about his performance tonight. He states that this competition was the strongest of the entire season. He lead the competition from the start and increased his lead with his last attempt of 65.57m. Having now three Diamond League meeting victories Piotr is clearly the one with the most points, and even increased that lead over fellow Robert Urbanek. Urbanek, currently 2nd in the Diamond Race finished only 5th while former banned discus thrower Zoltan Kovago placed 2nd with 65.23m. Former Olympic Champion Gerd Kanter placed 3rd with a new season best of 64.11m.

The women javelin event does not seem to surprise anyone. Barbora Spotakova won the competition with a new season best of 64.42m. The Australian Kim Mickle placed 2nd with 63.80m, Sunette Viljoen 3rd 63.15m. World Champion Christina Obergföll did not finish even top 8 with a rather weak throw of 58.11m. Let’s hope the competition for the World Championships will increase and obviously fingers crossed further throws.
