How has your training been going recently?
My training has been going great. My coach and I made the decision to pull out of a few European meets in hope of getting in some better quality training in July.
What is the focus of your training schedule?
My training schedule hasn’t changed very much. I’m currently throwing 4-5 workouts a week with three days of lifting.
Is there anything new you are implementing into your training?
In terms of change within the program, we went back on the weights for a cycle and upped our volume in the throws to a similar load as we had in May.
What technical issues are you working on?
Technically is the biggest change. He made the decision before US Championships to settle into the throw we had, knowing we would add a little bit to it in July. Right now we are working on adding weight to my left leg at the finish and a flatter more driving reverse.
Where are you currently training? Will you be attending any training camps at another site? If so, where and when?
I’m currently splitting time between San Diego State University and the training center in Chula Vista. Depending on schedules we will train at one of those locations.
Who is your current coach? Are you training with your coach on site or long distance?
My current throws coach is Greg Garza and strength coach is James Myers. The three of us collaborate to produce my program. I also work with both on a daily basis.
What competitions do you have planned?
I don’t have any competitions lined up before Worlds as I just did Pan Americas.
When will you travel to Asia? When will you travel to Beijing?
I leave for Japan on August 14th and I’ll be training outside Tokyo for 10 days leading up to Worlds in China.
Will any friends or family be travelling to Beijing?
I don’t have any friends or family coming to worlds. However I am very lucky as Jamie will be in Japan for training camp. And because of continued support from my close friends Al and Julie Rajaee and their donations along with others, I’m lucky enough to bring my coach with me for my last few days of prep in China.
