Apostolos Parellis (born July 24, 1985) is a professional Cypriot track and field athlete specializing in discus throw. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, narrowly missing a spot in the final after finishing 13th overall with an attempt of 63,48m (208′ 3″), just seven centimeters shy of the 12th position and the final.
Since breaking the National Record in 2007 for the first time (57.81m/189′ 8″) at the age of 22, Parellis has been the island’s top discus thrower, improving his personal best another ten times. The 65.36m (214′ 5″) mark was set in June 2012 at Chania, Crete, Greece.

How has your training been going recently?
As of now, I am doing well with my training.
What is the focus of your training schedule?
Presently, our goal is to do my best in the qualification round and a good performance in the final.
Is there anything new you are implementing into your training?
This year was a bit different from other years; have started my training in South Africa and we tried new things; but finally we did only minor changes on the technique.
What technical issues are you working on?
For now, we are working to improve my speed.
Where are you currently training?
I am training in my homeland, Cyprus.
Will you be attending any training camps at another site? If so, where and when?
No, I will not go to any training campus. Will travel directly to China from home.
Who is your current coach?
My coach is Mr. Georgios Georgiades.
Are you training with your coach on site or long distance?
Yes, I train with my coach and he will be travelling to Beijing with me.
Are you currently working a job? If so, what and how many hours a week?
No, I have finished my studies on 2012 and from that time I am only training.
What competitions do you have planned?
Presently, I do not have any other competitions scheduled. My last competition was the Diamond League in London and now I am training in Cyprus.
When will you travel to Asia?
I will go to China on 18th of August for training and compete on the 27th. I will come back to Cyprus beginning of September.
Will any friends or family be traveling to Beijing?
My parents and my brother will be traveling to watch the World Championship.
