The second day of the IAAF Diamond League meeting in London is taking place today. The women’s javelin event has just finished with Madara Palameika on top of the podium. She threw a new season best of 65.01m. Babora SPotakova made the 2nd place with a new season bet of 65.00m and Kimberley Mickle 3rd with 63.39m.
Today’s javelin competition was a very close one. Only one centimeter is between the 1st and 2nd place. Madara Palameika won the competition with her 3rd round throw of 65.01m. She opened with 61.91m, following a 59.50m throw and then the winning one of 65.01m.
Babora Spotakova was leading the competition after her 2nd attempt of 65.00m before Palameika took over the lead. After that three fouls followed and a 62.23m which was not enough for today. The Australian Kimberley Mickle became 3rd with 63.39m and Sunette Viljoen 4th with 63.14m. Kara Winger, who just competed at the Pan American Games became 5th with 62.97m, Goldie Sayer 62.09m and Liz Gleadle 61.35m for 7th place.
