The Pan American Games 2015 have just started with some great throwing results. The Canadian Liz Gleadle won the women javelin event with her last round effort of 62.83m. Kara Winger threw her silver throw of 61.44m also in her last attempt. Jucilene De Lima placed 3rd with 60.42m.
The first throwing event of the Pan American Games 2015 is the women’s javelin event. Liz Gleadle opened the competition with 59.33m to secure the first place after the first round. Kara Winger from the United States opened with 56.88m being in 3rd position for now. The Cuban Yulenmis Aguilar threw 57.87m for the 3rd place after the first round has finished.
It’s like if you’ve ever been in love and your heart is about to explode with happiness,” Gleadle said. “When you know that 95 per cent of the people in the crowd are truly rooting for you to do well, it’s a pretty electrifying feeling… Your whole body just lights up like a Christmas tree.”
Besides Jucilene De Lima, who fouled her first attempt and then threw 58.84m for the 2nd place, none of the strong women did improve during the second round. In the 3rd round, Flor Ruiz from Colombia threw 58.08m to get in the 4th position. The change in positions has not stopped in the 4th round. The Brazilian Jucilene De Lima improved her best attempt to 60.42m being even in gold position. Laila Domingos improved in her 5th attempt to take over the 4th place with her attempt of 58.19m.
Kara Winger, who just got back in the silver medal position with her 5th round throw of 59.74m did improve further in her last attempt. She even throw further than Jucilen De Lima with her best attempt of 61.44m. This was the gold position until Liz Gleadle took over with her last round effort of 62.83m.
